The Heritage

Barbara Austin belongs to a modern day dynasty of horticultural exerts. Her family includes daughter, Bunny Guinness the multi gold-medal winning garden designer, brother, David Austin the great rose breeder and high profile nursery owner, Claire Austin.  For Barbara, it is perennials that have played a major part in the building of her auspicious horticultural reputation, the plants which provide colour, interest and attract wildlife to our gardens year in year out.  From this essential group of plants an exclusive collection bearing the Barbara Austin Perennials name is to be launched by the specialist growers, West Kington Nurseries in garden centres across the UK for the first time this spring.

The Home.
Barbara Austin’s garden for over twenty years was Pound Hill in the Cotswolds village of West Kington.  The two acres of garden ‘rooms’ won many accolades from international TV and magazines and was appointed by the Royal Horticultural Society to be on e of their Partner Gardens in 2000.  Over the years that it has been established, Pound Hill’s garden has been the testing ground to discern which perennials score most highly for beauty, interest and growing success.  It is only these tried and tested varieties that for the first time will proudly bear the Barbara Austin Perennials label.
